BIGFOOT Trailer Jack for Horse and RV Trailers

Ever cranked a heavy trailer jack by hand? Even the 2 speed jacks wear you out. And then if you have different height trucks, you crank even more. I review new trailers and end up cranking more than I like.

Electric jacks are cheaper, but hydraulic jack are faster and made for heavy use.

You can use 12 volts from your truck or onboard battery on the trailer that LQ's would have for electric or hydraulic jacks. We installed a battery on my trailer so we could demonstrate the jack. It's nice having a battery on the trailer, lights anytime you need to see in the tack room. You can get a manual override on the hydraulic jack as an option, could come in handy with a run down battery.

We bolted a battery box to the trailer bulkhead. Of course using a deep cycle RV battery. We ran a wire from the black (hot) wire in the trailer cable to the battery. This charges the trailer battery from the truck when connected.

BIGFOOT comes with a 80 amp breaker to protect from power surges between battery and jack motor. Actually BIGFOOT comes with everything, bolts, wire, hoses all for a fast easy installation.

Also comes with a weather proof switch box and harness for operating the jack. You can leave the key in or pull the key out in the on position to run the jack without the key. Or pull the key out in the off position so no one messes with it.  Optional remote control switch would spoil you. Bigfoot has a steel oil reservoir that the hydraulic motor mounts to instead of a plastic tank that I see on other brands and the cover stays put. I see many power trailer jacks with the covers missing.

What took the longest was grinding the welds off the old jack. The new jack can be welded to the trailer or comes with angle iron brackets and bolts to the trailer bulkhead frame. We aligned the jack housing with the bottom of the trailer floor or where the old jack was.

Now the world is right. I have a power trailer jack!  No more tennis elbow and sore shoulders. BIGFOOT is a nice compact package, made well and heavy duty for years of trouble free service.

Using jack stands to support the trailer, now we can cut the old jack off.

This jack was made to stay but a 4" grinder took care of it.

A floor jack works well for aligning the new hydraulic jack to the trailer.

The pump unit comes preassembled. After attaching the box to the jack, it's you only have to attach the hoses and a couple hoses. The hydraulic hoses attach to the pump and ....  .... the cylinder. 80 amp breaker between the jack and battery. This trailer didn't have a wire box, so we tapped into the harness black (hot) wire to charge the battery when connected to the truck
The hydraulic pump mounts directly to the steel reservoir. No cheap plastic.
